Dasarathi

Daasarathi was a polyglot, proficient in Telugu, Sanskrit, Tamil, Urdu, Persian, and English. He is famously remembered for his revolutionary spirit during the Nizam’s rule in Hyderabad, where he penned the immortal line: “Naa Telangana, Koti Ratanala Veena” (My Telangana is a vina of a crore diamonds).

In cinema, he was known for his “bhaava-yukta” (emotionally rich) lyrics. He debuted with the film Vaagdanam (1961) and went on to write approximately 2,000 songs. His work often blended deep classical roots with simple, evocative language that resonated with the common man
