Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar, popularly known as Simbu or STR, is a multi-talented Indian actor, director, playback singer, lyricist, and music composer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. Son of veteran actor-director T. Rajendar, he began his career as a child artist before making his lead debut in Kadhal Azhivathillai (2002). He rose to massive fame with the blockbuster Manmadhan (2004), which he also wrote the story and screenplay for at just 21 years of age. His other major successes include Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Maanaadu (2021), and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022). Known for his mass appeal, energetic dance moves, and versatile performances, Simbu is also a trained classical dancer and holds a black belt in karate. He is a recipient of two Edison Awards and three SIIMA Awards, and remains one of the most prominent stars in Tamil and Telugu cinema.
