Gaayam (English: The Wound) is a 1993 Telugu political thriller film, based on the 1980s Vijayawada Gang Warfare. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, and story co-written by himself and Mani Ratnam, it stars Jagapathi Babu, Revathi, Urmila Matondkar in the lead roles and music composed by Sri.[1] Upon its release, the film received positive reviews, with six state Nandi Awards, and recorded as Super Hit at the box office.
